There is still time to apply for the final round of Teaching Excellence Development Fund for 2024/25 academic year, with applications closing on Friday 11th April 2025.
Submit your application using this online form
This fund supports projects that enhance teaching excellence and improve the student experience across the Faculty, and is open to all individuals involved in delivering teaching — including academic staff, PS staff, and GTAs.
If you have a project idea that could promote teaching excellence, improve educational gain, or embed research into teaching, we encourage you to submit an application before the deadline. Proposals will be assessed on their reach, value, and impact.
The TEDF can be used to support a wide range of activities, including:
- Promotion of teaching excellence — organising events to share best practices, co-creating projects with students or speaking at conferences that positively impact the University.
- Development of students’ educational gain — enhancing employability skills, social responsibility, service learning, community links, and piloting new interdisciplinary work.
- Research-informed teaching — embedding UoM research into teaching, developing pedagogical research, or trialling novel teaching ideas.
- Projects linked to university strategies and priorities — including Our Future, the Flexible Learning Programme, Assessment for the Future, or the Institute for Teaching & Learning.
We particularly encourage projects that involve collaboration, inclusivity, and student co-creation.
Previous successful applicants have included:
- Maryam Malekshahian: Using a Game to Introduce Design to First Year Chemical Engineering Students

- Language Clinic for PGT MSc Students in the Department of Chemistry
