Mentimeter Sign Up
Mentimeter is an interactive presentation tool that can be used to enhance both online and face-to-face sessions, allowing you to provide opportunities for interaction and monitor levels of engagement.
Site Licence – Sign Up
The University has purchased a site licence for Mentimeter. Any members of UoM Staff and Students can sign up and access a full featured licence by following the information below.
Already signed up and want to learn more – find a wide range of Mentimeter resources on this page
1 – Go to mentimeter.com and select Sign Up in the top right hand corner of the page.
2 – On the following page select Login with SSO
3 – On the following page enter University of Manchester as the institution name, you will then be directed to the normal University login page, login in with your normal username and password
4 – Once logged in you will be directed back to the Mentimeter site where you can start building your presentations
Site Licence – Existing Licence holders
Anyone who has previously requested a UoM Mentimeter licence can now log in using the SSO method above to access their existing Mentimeter account
Anyone with a Mentimeter licence that they individually pay for will be ported over to the University site licence and will not need to renew their individual licence. You can contact your faculty elearning team for advice but Faculty eLearning Teams and Mentimeter will be working to compile all UoM licences into a single licence plan over the next few weeks, so try login as above your licence may have already been added to the UoM Plan.
Is there a way to disable the chatbot? It is very irritating.
Until the add-ons are enabled in Office 365, most of these tools require jumping hoops to create the lectures – which is counter productive. It is quite unclear how IT can buy licenses for many software but not implement its full features to let end users use the said software to make workflows easier.
Hi Drupad,
Thanks for your comment. Just to clarify ITS didn’t buy the Mentimeter site licence, FSE did. We are working with ITS on enabling the powerpoint add-on, in the meantime it is possible to import your ppt into Mentimeter – https://www.mentimeter.com/integrations/powerpoint if you want to avoid flipping between the two applications.

the powerpoint 365 add-in is disabled for UoM accounts. Can we allow pls?
Hi Kirsty,
Yes, all powerpoint 365 add-ons are currently disabled by ITS. The Mentimeter add-in is on a priority list for review and once ITS are in a position to allow the add-ins we are hopeful this will happen – Mention this to your relevant Associate Dean so the demand is captured and we can keep pushing for this to be enabled!

It’s now Oct 7th 2023 and it still seems to be disabled. Any updates please?
Hi Martin, the cyber attack has made progress on this very difficult. However, for some Mentimeter Licence holders it is now available via Powerpoint…
Insert > Get Add Ins > Admin Managed
You need to be using the M365 version of PPT. We’re unable to test this or update the access lists due to a number of technical reasons so we are unable to support anyone using this feature. If it works then great if not then I’m sorry to say it’s a case of being patient, we are trying to get this resolved and updates will come via the faculty eLearning teams once we are able to support its use.
Thank you for alerting me to the new UoM license – I find Mentimeter useful for interactive content that engages all students, not just those who naturally talk, so I regularly use it in my classes.
