Managing My Future

This academic year saw the re-launch of Managing My Future – an interactive and engaging, two-hour employability session for all 2nd year students in the Faculty of Science & Engineering. Managing my Future was designed by the FSE careers team with the aim to inspire students to make the most of their second year and proactively prepare for their futures.

What is Slate? 

Slate is a new course unit information management system, intended to replace the existing course unit information publishing system called CUIP. Designed and developed in FSE by James Marsh and Steve Pettifer. 

Student Experience Action Fund

The Student Experience Action Fund is a new pot of money which all taught Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) students, including those on the Foundation Studies programme, can apply to for financial support to launch new projects or events which aim to improve the university experience of students in FSE and enhance feelings of belonging.  

Black Student Heritage Network

In April 2023 FSE staff conducted a focus group with Black Heritage students to understand their experiences at Manchester. One of the key initiatives to come from the group was the creation of a student-led network in FSE for Black heritage students. The network will provide regular opportunities for networking and socialising to increase belonging, aid transition into the university and facilitate progression.

FSE recognised at 2024 SU awards

On Monday, 29 April, the Students’ Union held their annual academic awards. These awards celebrate the magnificent work of staff and students at the University and FSE colleagues were delighted to receive awards in several categories. These included: Congratulations to everyone who was recognised at the awards.
